Initial Setup Before Customization
It is very important to clone the live demo template before you start customization. So that the file can be accessed only for you and the other users cannot edit your template.
- Click File menu option on top left
- Click the "make a copy" option
- Rename the file whatever you want
How to Make a Copy of your Design
- Click Home menu in left side panel
- Select your design in the design lists
- Click the 3 dots, in the drop-down list click ‘Make a Copy’.
How to Apply Section Background Color
- Click a Add a new page.
- Click Import Demo Content Select the page.
- To fill the color, select the color palette, and fill the appropriate color as what you need.

How to Insert the Text Field
- Select the TEXT field from the left side-bar, it will show the different types of typography.
- Select the any one of the typography to add the TITLE of the section.
- In this text editor, we can change the font-family, font size, text color, text alignment, etc,.
- Here it shows the section TITLE.
How to Edit the Background Color
- Select the rectangle box, which you want to edit the background color.
- Select the color palette, it will display all colors.
- Here you can edit the background color as how you need.
How to Insert a Grid
- Select the ELEMENTS from the left side-bar.
- In search box, type as GRIDS.
- Select the any one of the GRID from the list, the selected grid will be applied in your template, then adjust the width and height as per your need.
- Here we point the grid in the particular section.
How to Place Drag and Drop Image
- Select the PHOTOS category from the left side-bar.
- In search box, type the image category name which you want. Alternatively open the UPLOADS tab or FOLDERS tab to use a photo which you have uploaded.
- Click and drag the image, to the grid into the particular section.
- Here we placed the image into the grid.
How to Place a Image in the Grid
- Select the PHOTOS category from the left side-bar.

Align Elements in your Design
- Drag your cursor over the elements you want to align.
- Click Position in the toolbar.Alternatively open the Uploads
- Choose an alignment option under the Align Elements section.
How to Group Multiple Elements in a Section
- Select the single element and by holding SHIFT select the multiple elements you want to group.
- In right top, you have an option to GROUP it.
How to Create a New Blank Template
If you want to start new design from scratch, just create a new Canva design file. You can copy and Paste the design from another file.
- Click a Create Your Design
- Click a Custom Dimensions Select the Width and Height
- Select the Width and Height
- Select the any Choose Create Your Design
